Today in random shit: Broadway blender

May 26, 2011 at 6:10 am (Random Shit) (, , , )

Because Broadway songs are fun when you hear them in a way you may not have expected n__n (click on the links for the more popular versions).

CATS. Andrew Lloyd Webber singing ‘Pollicle Dogs and Jellicle Cats’, of the T.S. Eliot book of cat poems from which the musical sprung.

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Michael Crawford being Raoul, for once.

CABARET. Alan Cumming performs Mein Herr (to awesome effect n__n)

More CABARET. Where the past and present Emcees meet. (There’s also a video where Joel Grey performs the same song with…muppets).

CHICAGO. Speaking of Joel Grey and Muppets – ‘Razzle Dazzle‘ with Gonzo and other creatures.

RENT. Take Me or Leave Me sung by dudes (specifically Neil Patrick Harris and real-life partner David Burtka)

EVITA. Lea Salonga transforms from Kim/Eponine/Mulan to Eva Peron.

SWEENEY TODD. Josh Groban making “Do they think that walls can hide you/ Even now I’m at your window/ I am in the dark beside you” sound a bit less stalkerish. There’s also a Hugh Panaro and Bernadette Peters version n__n.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. A near-unrecognizable version sung by The Temptations. Wait, what?
