Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, of puppet magic and Goblin King fame, was released exactly 25 years ago today.

The 1986 film spawned a comic book adaptation (which was incidentally published as part of Marvel’s 25th anniversary),

a floppy sort of manga sequel,

a spiritual successor in the form of Dave McKean’s Mirrormask,

and a funny tribute by Amanda Palmer.

And a shitload of other merchandise.

Here’s the scene that got me hooked on Labyrinth.

This is why David Bowie is forever Jareth (to me at least n__n).
