Today in random shit: Raindance Maggie

February 12, 2013 at 10:07 am (Random Shit) (, )

Who or what is Maggie and why is she raindancing? Like Dani California, is she a sublimation of all the women Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis has been in relationships with?

Wikipedia says that Maggie is a “collection of memories” that stewed at the back of Kiedis’ head til he heard the music for this song. There have apparently been two “Maggies” in his life, though who they are is anyone’s guess.

Ultimately though the true identity of Raindance Maggie is less important than the fact that the Red Hot Chili Peppers would sing about her on a rooftop. While bopping.

A Red Hot Chili Peppers (1983-present) sampler, mostly from their later albums. They haven’t had a new song since 2006, so this qualifies as nostalgia (they are, however, coming out with a new album in August. It may or may not be called ‘Dr. Johnny Skinz’s Disproportionately Rambunctious Polar Express Machine-head’.)

I love me some drift-into-afternoon-rain kind of music. And running-up-a-hill-while-drunk kind of music. And Anthony Kiedis.

Otherside (from Californication, 1999)

I yell and tell it that it’s not my friend
I tear it down, I tear it down
And then it’s born again

Today in random shit: How Deep Is Your Love?

March 14, 2011 at 6:15 am (Random Shit) (, )

Sung by John, from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I cannot remember if he’s still part of the current incarnation of the RHCP o_O. Either way, this makes for a ‘Nice Something To Listen To On An Otherwise Bluster-full Day.’
