Today in random shit: Don’t hug me I’m scared

April 19, 2013 at 1:06 pm (Random Shit) (, , )

There are some strange, disturbing videos out in YouTube-land. And then there’s this.

I was expecting one of them feel-good artistic inspirational videos. Instead, I am amused, terrified, depressed, introspective and disturbed all at once (and at the end of a work week, that’s a good feeling to have).

Creepy videos for Halloween 2012

October 29, 2012 at 5:14 pm (Awesome, Uncategorized) (, , , , )

There’s a lot of creepy shit on YouTube. Some of them are the short, gut-punch bits of scary that one may watch for that immediate dose of ‘what the fuck did I just see’ that makes any day, but most especially Halloween, all the better.

Scary movie 5 - in theaters next spring!

Like these:

The Cat With Hands

Directed by Robert Morgan. This appeared on Neil Gaiman’s blog some years back. It starts off with a rhyme that tends to get stuck in your head.

The Gloaming

Directed by Andrew Huang. This is the real reason why people shouldn’t stay at their offices late, especially when ravens have gathered at the windows.

Today in random shit: The dog who was a cat inside

For today’s quota of pretty animation.

I think the moral lesson is ‘somewhere in the world is a freak just like you, except inverted.’ Or. Something.

Today in random shit: Kung-fu Bunny

June 7, 2011 at 5:10 am (Random Shit) (, , , )

Awesome short film by Chinese indie animator (and Animation Department of Communication University of China lecturer) Vincent. I first saw this during last year’s Philippine International Cartoons, Comics and Animation (PICCA) festival.

It’s about a bunny and a puppy and the artist in a very meta way. With kung-fu.

Today in random shit: Kiwi

March 31, 2011 at 5:51 am (Random Shit) (, , )

This one’s been around for quite a while.

First saw this a couple of years back (it made me crawl into a quiet corner and weep). Been sharing it with people ever since, and part of the fun is seeing peoples’ reactions (‘It gave up!’ / ‘It died for what it wanted!’ / ‘It didn’t die!’ / ‘Those were tears of joy!’ / ‘How can it hold tools?’ / ‘Does it have feathers?’ / ‘It can carry trees up a fucken mountain?’ / ‘I’m pretty sure I heard a splat at the end so I think it died’).

I think it died, but before it died it was happy. But that’s just me.
